Make slight adjustments to ensure a normal bite.

Expect the whole procedure to take under an hour to complete. Of course, the process will be longer if you have multiple cavities. Your tooth-colored filling can last a decade or more with good care.

Cavities may be a common dental problem, they don’t have to be if you practice good oral habits. Here are some tips to prevent tooth decay:

Brush your teeth twice a day and after drinking sugary beverages.
Use a fluoride toothpaste.
Rinse with mouthwash.
Floss daily.
Avoid sweets and sticky foods that stick to the teeth.
Schedule six-month cleanings and dental exams.
Get fluoride treatments or dental sealants.
Drink fluoridated water.
